As part of the vision for the Holy
Souls Crusade,
we aim to bring pilgrimages from Ireland to various places of worship
in
Europe, especially those which have a Marian connection.
In 2003, 2004 and 2005 we have travelled as small groups to Garabandal in Northern Spain and also to Medjugorje. We acknowledge that the Church is still investigating both of these places and await their decision on their authenticity. Having said that, great graces have accrued from our visits to both so we decided to include them in pilgrimage itineraries for the Holy Souls in 2006. Garabandal was a return pilgrimage in October 2007 and is more than likely to be an annual one. Another area we felt was important to visit, if possible, was Poland, travelling in the footsteps of Pope John Paul II. Auschwitz is probably one of the biggest cemetaries in the world with its own sad and terrible history. We felt the need not only to pray for the souls of those who died there, but also for the souls of those who committed or assisted in the dreadful crimes of that place. In November of 2006 two of us were priviledged and blessed to be able to go to Poland and as a result, and much prayer, two pilgrimages were organised to Poland for 2007, 3 pilgrimages in 2008 and 1 for 2009. In 2009 & 2010 we spent 7 nights at the Divine Mercy Shrine, visiting Czestochowa (the Black Madona of Jasna Gora), Wadowice, Pope John Paul II's birthplace, Kalwaria, Poland's Calvary, Krakow and Auschwitz - Pilgrimage to the Divine Mercy Shrine August 22nd-29th 2010 2011 we will visit Garabandal in May (15th to 22nd) and the Holy Land (October 19th to 28th 2011 - see the programme from the link).
